Most Muse problems fall into four buckets: you are outside the US or Canada (nothing to fix, join the waitlist), the app needs an update or a re-login, a connected app's sign-in has lapsed (disconnect and reconnect it), or you have hit your weekly token limit (wait or upgrade). Work down the list below for your symptom. Muse is still labelled limited testing by Meta, so features and fixes vary by account.
"Not available in your country"
As of late September 2026, Muse is available in the United States and Canada only. Everywhere else, the app store listing may not appear, or the app installs but shows a waitlist. This is not a bug and there is no workaround that keeps working:
- An invite code does not unlock Muse in an unsupported country. It only adds tokens to an active account.
- Availability follows your Apple Account or Google Play country, not your location. Changing store region breaks other apps and payments and is not something we recommend.
- APK files from third-party sites are a common malware vector and still will not activate the service.
Join the waitlist at muse.ai and follow this directory; we email when countries open. Meanwhile, the Meta AI chatbot (not the agent) is available in many more countries. See Muse vs Meta AI.
Cannot sign in, login loop, "expired credentials"
Right after Meta Connect on September 23 a run of "expired credentials" errors was reported. If you see that or a login loop:
- Update the app. App Store or Google Play. Many fixes ship as app updates, and old builds fail against new servers.
- Sign out fully and back in. Settings, then sign out. On the web, clear cookies for muse.ai. Then sign in again with the same Meta account.
- Check the Meta account itself. Sign in at facebook.com or instagram.com. If that account is locked, has a pending security check, or needs two-factor setup, Muse will fail until it is resolved.
- Try another surface. If the app fails, try muse.ai in a browser, or vice versa. This tells you whether it is your device or your account.
- Wait an hour. Rollout problems tend to clear.
If none of that works, report it in the app (Settings, then Help) and, if you like, tell us on the requests page so we can note the pattern.
Invite code not working
In order:
- Past 48 hours since you created the account? No code will work, and there is no appeal.
- Code used up? Codes have a redemption cap. Try a different, fresher one; ours is refreshed when it runs out.
- Cannot find the field? Settings, then General, then Redeem invitation code (or "Have an invite code"). If it is missing, update the app.
- Typo? Six characters, no spaces, case does not matter.
- Account not active? Outside the US and Canada, the account may exist but be waitlisted; codes do not apply.
- Check your balance after redeeming. If the 1 billion tokens do not show within a few minutes, sign out and in.

A task is stuck or Muse stopped replying
Muse keeps working after you close the app, but sometimes a task waits on you without making that obvious.
- Open the task's activity log. It shows what Muse did and what it is waiting for. Very often it is waiting for your approval on a purchase, an email, or a sign-in.
- Check for a pending approval in the chat or notifications. Approve, edit or decline.
- Say "what are you waiting for?" Muse will tell you.
- Say "stop" and start again with a clearer request if the plan went sideways. Our phrasing tips help.
- Check whether a site blocked it. Some sites, Amazon among them, refuse Muse's browser. Muse usually says so, but not always. Ask it to use another store.
- Check your token meter. A task pauses silently when you hit the limit (next section).
"You have reached your usage limit"
The free tier has a weekly limit (reported at up to 100 million tokens). Long shopping comparisons, background watching, and Mac desktop control burn through it fastest, because Muse spends tokens reading pages and screenshots you never see.
- Wait. The limit refreshes weekly. Tasks in progress resume.
- Upgrade. Power ($20 a month, 500 million a week) or Maximum ($100, 3 billion). Settings, then plan.
- Use fewer tokens. Give tighter constraints ("three options, not ten"), avoid open-ended browsing, and stop background tasks you no longer need.
- Redeem an invite code if you are within 48 hours of joining: 1 billion tokens.

A connected app stopped working
Connected apps (Gmail, calendar, Notion and so on) use a sign-in token that can expire or be revoked, for example when you change a password or the app's provider rotates keys.
- Open Settings, then Connectors. An app that needs attention usually shows a warning.
- Disconnect and reconnect. This refreshes the sign-in. Re-choose the access level.
- Check the app on its own. If Gmail is down or your Notion workspace changed, Muse cannot fix that.
- Check the app's page on this directory. Every listed app with a public endpoint is checked every 15 minutes; its page shows whether it answered its last check, its response time, and its uptime over 7 and 30 days. If it says "Down" or "Having trouble," the problem is on the app's side and you can follow it to be told when it recovers. Browse all apps.
- Check What's new for outage notes; two failed checks in a row get logged there automatically.
An "extra setup" app will not connect
Apps not in Muse's Connectors list are used by pasting a request into Muse with the app's link. Meta does not review these, and they fail for their own reasons.
- Copy the request exactly from the app's page here; it includes the link and whether a key is needed.
- If the app needs an access key, Muse will ask you to enter it through its secure credential prompt. Get the key from the app's own site first.
- If Muse says it cannot reach the link, check the app's page: our health badge shows whether the endpoint is up. If it is down, that is the app.
- Apps that require signing in with your account (OAuth) usually cannot be used this way yet. Their pages say so, and you can follow them to be told when they reach Muse's official list.
- If Muse refuses, it may have judged the app unsafe. Trust that instinct unless you know the app well.
We test this flow ourselves; the directory notes on each page whether we have confirmed a custom connection working in the Muse app. How to connect an app shows every screen.
WhatsApp will not link
- Open the Muse app, Settings, and find the WhatsApp linking option. Scan the QR code shown there, from your own account only.
- Use the same phone for both apps if possible; linking from a desktop browser to a phone can fail.
- Make sure WhatsApp is updated.
- If the Muse chat appears but does not respond, unlink and relink.
- Do not confuse it with Meta AI, which is already in WhatsApp for everyone and is not the agent. See how to tell which one you are talking to.
Mac app problems
- "Cannot be opened": the Mac app is downloaded from Meta, not the Mac App Store, so macOS may warn about it. Open System Settings, then Privacy and Security, and allow it.
- Muse cannot control an app: it needs per-app permission. Grant it in the Muse Mac app and in macOS Accessibility and Screen Recording settings.
- It burns through tokens: desktop control works from screenshots. Use it for specific, bounded jobs and keep the limit in mind.
- Windows: there is no Windows app as of this writing. Use muse.ai in a browser.
Muse did the wrong thing
Meta's own warning is that Muse may take unexpected actions. If it did:
- Stop it. Say "stop" in the chat.
- Read the activity log to see exactly what happened and what it planned next.
- Undo what you can. Muse can often reverse its own step: "cancel that order," "recall that email" (only if the provider allows), "delete the event."
- If money moved, purchases through Link carry protections, including no-fee returns and coverage for damaged or lost items on eligible purchases. Start with the merchant, then Link.
- Tell Muse what to do differently next time, and narrow the access that allowed it. "Always ask before spending over $50." "Read-only on my email."
- Report it in the app so Meta sees the pattern.
Our privacy guide covers the real risks and the settings that reduce them.
Billing and subscription problems
- Charged but still limited: sign out and in; if the plan still does not show, contact the store you paid through (Apple, Google, or Meta on the web).
- Cannot cancel: cancel where you subscribed. iPhone: Apple subscriptions. Android: Google Play. Web: Muse Settings. Deleting the Muse account does not cancel a store subscription.
- Card required at sign-up: Meta has asked for a payment card at sign-up in some regions. You are not charged on the free tier.
- Refunds: follow Apple's, Google's or Meta's policy for the channel you used.
- Price looks different: plans are in limited testing and "may vary by region and account."
Is Muse down right now?
Meta does not publish a public status page for Muse as of this writing. Three ways to check:
- Try muse.ai in a browser as well as the app. If both fail for several people, it is an outage.
- Check Meta's newsroom and the Muse accounts on X and Threads for notices.
- For connected apps, our stats page and What's new show which apps are answering checks right now, which tells you whether the problem is Muse or the app you are using.
If you are still stuck, tell us on the requests page. We cannot fix Meta's service, but we track patterns and update these guides when a fix is confirmed.
