Pick by what you want done. Muse is the best fit for personal-life chores: email, calendar, shopping, bookings, bills, selling things, all from your phone or WhatsApp, and it is free for most use. ChatGPT is the broadest all-rounder. Claude leads for coding, long documents and careful analysis. Gemini wins if your life already runs on Gmail, Google Calendar and Drive. Grok Bot is the most autonomous "always-on" agent but costs the most and lives on X. None of them is best at everything, and several people use two.

Meta Muse
What it is for. Muse is designed around the chores of a normal life. The launch demos were selling a car, lowering a bill, planning a trip, turning a saved Instagram reel into a grocery list. It is not trying to be a coding tool or a research assistant first; it is trying to be the person you would hire to run your errands if you could afford one. We explain it fully in What is Meta Muse?
Where it is strong.
- Zero learning curve. You message it in plain words, in the app or WhatsApp. Meta's stated design goal was "no technical experience required," and it shows.
- It really does things. Its own browser, its own cloud computer, real checkout with a one-time card, real bookings. Muse keeps working after you close the app and comes back when it needs you.
- The safety design is unusually explicit. A separate Sentinel program on Muse's machine gates every outside action, Muse never sees your passwords or card numbers, and you get a full audit trail. See our privacy guide.
- Price. Free for up to a reported 100 million tokens a week is the most generous consumer allowance we know of, and Meta has said it plans to earn from transaction fees rather than subscriptions.
- Shopping partners. Stripe's Link, Shopify's full catalog, Shop Pay, PayPal, plus Walmart, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Wayfair, Expedia, and Instacart coming.
Where it is weak.
- US and Canada only. Everyone else is on a waitlist.
- Not the pick for coding or serious writing. Independent reviewers consistently rate ChatGPT and Claude ahead on those, even after Muse Spark 1.3 narrowed the gap on general benchmarks.
- Some big sites block it. Amazon does not let Muse browse its store.
- Single model, single cloud. Muse only runs on Meta's Muse Spark in Meta's cloud. You cannot swap in another model.
- It is Meta. For some people that is a dealbreaker, full stop. The privacy architecture is strong, but it is still a Meta product under Meta's policies.
Best for: people who want an agent for personal admin, who live on their phone and WhatsApp, and who want to try one for free.
ChatGPT
What it is for. The broadest product. Chat, research, files, images, voice, and agent features (Operator for web tasks, ChatGPT Work for long-running deliverables and team coordination).
Where it is strong. Breadth. If you want one assistant that does a reasonable job of everything, this is still the default most people land on. The app ecosystem is the largest, desktop apps are mature on Mac and Windows, and it is available worldwide.
Where it is weak. Its agent features are aimed at a wider range of work and, in reviewers' tests, are less polished than Muse for the specific job of running your personal errands. No native WhatsApp presence. The top tier is $200.
Best for: anyone who wants a general-purpose AI first and an agent second.
Claude
What it is for. Anthropic's Claude has leaned hardest into coding, long documents, careful analysis, and computer use. Claude Cowork is its desktop agent for knowledge work: spreadsheets, code, files on your machine.
Where it is strong. Widely regarded as the leader for coding and long-horizon technical agent work, and many people prefer its writing. Its connector system (MCP) is the same open standard Muse's custom connectors use, which is part of why the connector ecosystem is moving quickly.
Where it is weak. It is a professional tool first. It lacks Muse's mobile-first, WhatsApp-native, one-tap-checkout feel for everyday errands, and it does not have retail partnerships.
Best for: developers, writers, analysts, and anyone whose "agent" tasks are on a computer rather than in a shopping cart.
Gemini
What it is for. Google's assistant, now acting across Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Maps and Android.
Where it is strong. If your life already runs on Google, Gemini can act inside those apps without you connecting anything, and Google's strategy is explicitly to let Gemini operate across its services rather than move your data elsewhere. The Mac app arrived in April 2026 and is free. Gemini's cheaper models are dramatically less expensive for developers.
Where it is weak. It is most useful inside Google's walls. For general web tasks and third-party checkout it is behind Muse and ChatGPT, and reviewers note it trades some agentic reliability for price in its Flash models.
Best for: people whose email, calendar and files are all Google, especially on Android.
Grok Bot
What it is for. xAI's always-on agent running on a persistent virtual machine in X's cloud, with X as its native surface.
Where it is strong. Maximum autonomy. Grok Bot is built to run continuous automated workflows and people who use it praise the experience of getting a bot up and running fast. It has unique access to real-time X data.
Where it is weak. Price and billing. It comes bundled with X Premium+ (around $40 a month) and its top tier, SuperGrok Heavy, is $300 a month. The recurring user complaint is credits burning while the agent retries a stuck task, with no hard spend cap. Third-party integrations are shallower than ChatGPT's.
Best for: technical users who want the most autonomous agent and are fine paying for it, or who need X's data.
Instinct and the others
Two names come up alongside these. Instinct is an invite-only agent aimed at maximum autonomy; pricing is not public and most people cannot get in. Poke is an agent that lives in iMessage, with a free tier and plans up to $199, which matters if iMessage rather than WhatsApp is your life. Perplexity Computer and Fabric are cloud agents pitched at knowledge work. We may add pages on these as they mature.
How to pick
Ask yourself which sentence sounds most like you.
- "I want something to handle my errands, and I mostly use my phone." Muse. It is free, it is built for exactly this, and it is in WhatsApp. Start with our Start page.
- "I want one AI for everything and I do not want to think about it." ChatGPT.
- "My work is code, documents, or analysis." Claude.
- "Everything I do is in Gmail and Google Calendar." Gemini.
- "I want a bot running 24/7 and cost is not the issue." Grok Bot.
- "I do not want a Meta product touching my email." Any of the other four; our privacy guide will help you judge whether that worry applies to Muse's design.
- "I live outside the US and Canada." Muse is not available to you yet, so ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
And it is fine to combine. A common setup we see: Muse for life admin and shopping, plus Claude or ChatGPT for work. The apps are $20 each, and Muse is free for most people, so trying two costs little.
