How to connect: Not in Muse's Connectors list yet, but Muse can still use it. Paste this into Muse: "Use TopAlternativesTo to help me. It is a free service with an MCP server at https://topalternatives.to/api/mcp/mcp. It does not need an API key. Ask me before you share anything with it." Muse asks before it shares anything with the app's site. Meta does not review apps used this way, so only use ones you trust. We tested this in the Muse app on September 24, 2026: Muse used an app's link directly this way and returned a live answer.

- search_tools: Search TopAlternativesTo's catalogue of software tools. Filter by free-text query, category, whether a free tier exists, and a maximum starting price. Every result carries the price, the vendor page it was read from, and the date it was checked. WHEN TO USE: browsing or filtering
- get_tool: Full detail on one tool by slug: what it is, pricing with the vendor source URL and the date it was checked, who it suits, and who it does not. Use search_tools first if you do not know the slug.
- get_alternatives: The question this site exists to answer: what should someone use instead of a given tool. Returns the verdict (which alternative suits which buyer situation, including when staying put is the right call), the ranked list with each option's price, and why teams leave. WHEN TO USE:
