Converts documents and web pages to Markdown format. Supports PDF, DOCX, XLSX, EPUB, scanned files and any public URL. Includes quality checks to verify conversion accuracy. Works with web pages, Office documents and more.

How to connect: Not in Muse's Connectors list yet, but Muse can still use it. Paste this into Muse: "Use file2markdown to help me. It is a free service with an MCP server at https://mcp.file2markdown.ai/mcp. It does not need an API key. Ask me before you share anything with it." Muse asks before it shares anything with the app's site. Meta does not review apps used this way, so only use ones you trust. We tested this in the Muse app on September 24, 2026: Muse used an app's link directly this way and returned a live answer.

Tools:
- convert_url: Fetch a URL (web page, PDF, Office doc, and more) and convert it to Markdown. Works on publicly accessible URLs. Web pages are converted from their served HTML; JavaScript-rendered content may be incomplete. Optional filename_hint (e.g. "report.pdf") helps format detection when t
- convert_base64: Convert base64-encoded file contents to Markdown. filename is required and drives format detection (e.g. "report.docx"). Intended for programmatic MCP clients; for anything with a URL, prefer convert_url. quality_check: "basic" (default) attaches local output-health checks in the
- list_supported_formats: List supported input formats, per-tier limits, and which features need Pro. Single source of truth — do not claim capabilities beyond what this returns. 
- usage_status: Check your tier and remaining conversions before burning a call.
